Our Vision

At The Upper Academy, we believe that Mathematics is a powerful tool that enables students to make sense of the world around them. Our curriculum is designed to develop confident, resilient and independent mathematicians who can think logically, solve problems creatively and apply their mathematical understanding in a wide range of contexts. 

We teach mathematics because it provides students with essential knowledge, skills and ways of thinking that support success across the curriculum, future education, employment and everyday life. Through a carefully sequenced curriculum, students build fluency, deepen conceptual understanding and develop reasoning and problem-solving skills that prepare them for lifelong learning. Our approach reflects the belief that mathematics is the key to opportunity, confidence and informed decision-making

The mathematics curriculum follows a carefully sequenced journey that develops knowledge and skills progressively from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 4. New concepts build on prior learning, enabling students to make connections and deepen understanding over time.
