Drop Down Week Boosts Student Confidence for Summer Exams

Last week, Year 11 students participated in a series of engaging drop-down sessions designed to prepare them for their upcoming summer exams.

Being able to devote whole days to different subjects allowed teachers to group students according to their specific gaps in understanding and, provide targeted support. It has meant that teachers focused in more depth on the key skills students need for exam success in English, Maths and Science.

The bootcamp style sessions also gave our learners the opportunity to work with, learn from and support students from different classes.

Throughout the week, small groups of students worked with external tutors from PET-Xi, who used a unique range of highly effective methods to deliver content and build confidence. Smaller group sizes proved to be advantageous, helping to break down some of the barriers that exist in allowing everyone to participate.
