Year 12 Hairdressing Students Learn from Industry Experts

Inspiring Insights and Practical Skills Delivered by Salon Professionals

Year 12 students currently studying the Hairdressing VTCT NVQ Diploma qualification recently had the opportunity to take part in a specialist training session with an educator from Leyton House, the professional product brand used in our in-house salon.

As part of their qualification, students are required to carry out a wide range of hairdressing services, which involves selecting and using appropriate products — from colouring to styling. The visit from Leyton House gave students valuable insight into the brand’s product range, their individual uses, and how different formulas can impact hair condition and colour results.

The session also explored how to choose the right products to achieve professional standards and client satisfaction. In addition to the technical knowledge shared, educator Paula spoke about her own career in the hairdressing industry, helping students understand the diverse opportunities available beyond working in a traditional salon environment.

The visit was engaging, insightful, and helped reinforce the students’ learning in a real-world context.

“I found the training session really helpful and it taught me a lot about different products and the best products to use in each situation.” Sofia.C

“They were very nice and gave us a lot of information. They also answered all our questions and showed us where to get resources from.” Ritanna.M

“I really enjoyed the talk and I learnt a lot about the colour range.” Chloe.H
