Year 11 Leavers' Assembly

On Monday 15th June, our Leavers' Assembly marked the end of an era for our Year 11 students. It was a memorable occasion filled with reflection, celebration, and an opportunity to look back on the journey they have shared throughout their years at the academy. There was a real sense of pride in all that they have accomplished, as well as excitement for the opportunities that lie ahead.
The last two years have flown by. Since joining the Upper Academy, our students have embraced change, overcome challenges, and worked hard to complete their GCSE examinations. Along the way, they have developed new friendships, grown in confidence, and created memories that will stay with them for years to come. They have also contributed positively to the wider school community, taking part in school events, supporting one another, and demonstrating the values of the academy in their daily conduct.
The assembly provided a fitting opportunity to reflect on their journey and to celebrate both individual and collective achievements. It was also a chance to recognise the resilience and determination shown by the year group, particularly during their exam period, where they approached their studies with maturity and focus.
On a personal note, it has been a privilege to have been Year Leader for this year group and to have watched them grow into the young adults that they are today. I am proud of all they have achieved and of the way they have represented themselves and the academy throughout their journey with us. It has also been a pleasure to work alongside parents and carers over the past two years, and I would like to thank them for their continued support throughout their child’s time at the Upper Academy.
As they move on to the next chapter of their lives, whether that be sixth form, college, apprenticeships, or employment, I wish them every success and happiness for the future. I have no doubt that they will continue to achieve great things, and I look forward to hearing about their achievements in the years to come.
