Students Collaborate on Pitsea Community Mural

Year 10 Art students recently took part in a creative workshop contributing to a new community mural that will be displayed on the cladding where the library once stood on Northlands Pavement, just a short distance from the Upper Academy.

The session, led by Kirsty and Brittany from Creative Basildon, encouraged students to reflect on what makes Pitsea special, exploring its landmarks, people, and strong sense of community through art. Working collaboratively, students designed and created visual elements that will form part of the final mural, celebrating the town’s identity and pride.

“I enjoyed being able to create my own work about Pitsea!” Jacee.H

For this workshop, I found it really fun and challenging; it was hard to decide what I wanted to include on a mural.” Lillie.S

Once completed, the mural will stand as a vibrant celebration of Pitsea’s creativity, showcasing the artistic talents of local young people and serving as a lasting tribute to the area’s community spirit.
